** BACKGROUND **
- Gilles took his first picture at age one in Lyon, France, with his father's 6x9cm Voigtlander camera!
- Always curious about the way to see things around him, he took a two-year photography course with the Famous Photographers School (Westport, CT) in the late 60's. Guiding Faculty comprised: Richard Avedon, Richard Beattie, Joseph Costa, Alfred Eisenstaedt, Irving Penn and Ezra Stoller, among others.
- He purchased his first Nikon professional camera in 1971 and has been using Nikon equipment ever since (for both 35mm and digital formats).
